Birthday Boy!

(Yes, it was more than a week ago, and we still have decorations up! But he is still enjoying it!)
We had a great day, celebrating Ben's 6th b-day. He was so thrilled when he came out of his room that morning, and seen all the decorations hanging around. (Mom and Dad had been up until midnight wrapping gifts and hanging streamers and balloons. x0 ) He had wanted a pirate-themed birthday, and I found all the things we needed on clearance at Michael's months ago. So, from that angle, I was ready. But the cake, well, that was a different story....

We went to, of course, the Fun Depot to start off our celebration. After buying your "boxcar bucks" at the entrance, the first thing you come to, right beside the batting cage, is the laser tag. And that was the first thing the boys wanted to do....and Mom and Dad had to play too! (Per their request.) They wanted to play against us, but we ended up on the same team against 3 teenage-ish boys. We lost, but only by a little bit!!

We played a few arcade games, then it was off to the soft-play area. This has always been a favorite, but I can see it diminishing in the future....

The boys got Dad to play "monster chase." Dad's the monster....

There was another little boy that wanted in on the fun (in the blue Thomas shirt). He ran around with our boys, smiling so big. His G-ma said his father didn't do much of this kind of thing with him....sad. But he was having a great time with us!

Rock climbing was next, after a short break to catch their breath. Josh was so gun-ho about it, but got a little scared once up there. He actually did better back in November on his b-day. Ben really got into it though....

A quick game of air hockey....

Josh is so competitive....

We ate there at the Depot Diner, and had a really good lunch...we were surprised.
~~~~~~
Then it was off to the races....Ben and Daddy won...
Upstairs, we played a few more arcade games, then went for the bumper cars. Ben was just tall enough this year--his hair came right to the line! lol! With only a brief instruction, and a few seconds, Ben had it figured out, and was in hot pursuit of Josh!
It was the coolest thing they did on this trip. Their smiles couldn't have gotten much bigger!
Is that a happy lookin' birthday boy, or what?!
Back at home, Gramma and Papa & Nana came over to share some cake, and watch Ben tear open cards and rip off wrapping paper.
Money is always a jaw-dropper...
Perhaps the most exciting present was the one that was the most sought-after, Legos--Darth Vadar's tie-fighter, to be exact....
(And maybe I should mention here, a close second was a Speed Racer plush pillow from Papa & Nana. He sleeps with it every night, and even uses it in the living room during the day!)
~~~~~~
This is the "not-a-pirate-themed" cake. We looked, but no pirates, not even Pirates of the Carribean. But he was thrilled with the Bakugan decorations on it. It even came with a keychain toy. And I wrapped his presents in Bakugan paper.

I hope all his birthday wishes come true....

Pirates and Bakugan....what a combo. But Ben sure enjoyed it, and that's what counts.
:)

I'm glad he had a great birthday! My cake disaster for Jaden was it cracking right down the middle in the car on the way to my sister's house. I had gotten the icing to just the right "Buzz Lightyear green" too! LOL
