Race Results, and...Halloween?

Okay, so the races are over. And we (the boys) were much happier this year with their cars, as well as with the results. Well, at least one of them was.

(Josh's car is second from the left on the back row.)

(Ben's car is first from the left on the back row.)

The Bears raced at 2:00. And Josh was all too excited to see his car 'flying' down the track.

He won his first heat, and was very pleased with that.

(That's his car in the far lane, in the lead.)

Last year, his best time was 2.67 seconds at 179 mph. So this year's was faster.

He placed sixth overall. Out of about 15+ boys.
He was very optimistic, saying that next year he would have a 'wedge'
(one of the faster designs), and he would win a trophy.

So proud. Not to mention cute. Such a 'poser.' :)

The Wolves raced at 3:00. Ben didn't think he'd ever get to race. (Such drama.)
He got to race in the very first heat, and won.

Last year, Ben's top speed was 185.6 mph, with a time of 2.57 seconds.

Most of the heats he was in, the cars were really close,
running 'neck & neck' down the track.

No one really knowing who would win, until they got to the end,
and the lights would light up in the finish order,
you still had to look up at the board for the results.

He finished 5th overall, out of 15 or so boys.

Even though his car had faster times than his brother's,
and he finished his race one place higher than his brother,
Ben thought he should gotten a trophy, and was not a happy camper.

Even though we knew the stats, the brothers still had to have a face-off.

(No story here.....)
With the exception of one of 'us' not being happy about not going to the finals, we had a good time. Gramma even came out to watch the races. And afterward, despite that the weather turned cold and blustery, the boys played on the playground outside for a little while to burn off some excess energy. (Yeah, right!)

And now, the LOs I mentioned....

Halloween?!?!
Yup. 2010.
(I'm still a year behind. But workin' on gettin' caught up!)

I wanted to make it easy on myself, so I used the exact same photos for both boys' pages.
First up, Ben. As Darth Vadar.
This is Bella Blvd.'s line "Too Cute To Spook."
It's just as cute and wonderful as the "Finally Fall" line.

And Josh as Luke Skywalker from "Return of the Jedi."
Still on the Bella Blvd. kick.
I think I am addicted to Bella Blvd. And Echo Park.
They both have super cute products.
And over the last two weeks, they have both been revealing their new product lines for the 2012 CHA (Craft and Hobby Association) show.
Oh, to be able to go to a CHA show!
That would be almost as good as going to WDW again!
(Almost. Almost, I said!)

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday, and enjoying the beautiful weather.
(I actually went to the park after lunch today and walked a couple of laps around the ball fields!)
Thanks as always for stopping in for a visit.

Ready For a Day at the Races

Well, I don't have any LOs to post as of yet.
(Actually, I do have one finished and another started, but no pictures yet.)
I have been a little distracted this week.
Tomorrow is Race Day for our Cub Scouts.
The Pinewood Derby.
And we have been working hard, finishing up Josh and Ben's cars.
(That is, Mom and Dad have been finishing up the cars.)
Can you guess which car belongs to who(m)?

Well, in case you can't guess, I'll tell you....
Ben's is Lightning McQueen and Josh's is the Red 5 from Star Wars IV,
A New Hope. (Luke's X-Wing fighter...minus the wings, of course.)
As of now, the cars have been officially weighed in, and
left behind at the church, waiting for tomorrow's race.
Both boys are very proud of their cars, and very eager to race.
According to Steve, the competition is going to be very tight.
All the cars that they saw tonight at the weigh-in were pretty awesome.
And now, everyone knows all the tricks.
So it's going to be a close race.
Can't wait to see how it goes.
Stay tuned for pictures.....

BOO-YAH!

There you have it.
Another 'masterpiece' completed.
I am luvin' that Bella Blvd. paper!
(Usin' up scraps, and makin' the most of my supplies!)
Gotta keep up the momentum,
and get some Halloween/Trick-or-Treatin' pics scrapped!
~~~~~~
Hoping everyone is having a great week.
And lookin' forward to the weekend!
TFL!
Let it roll !
I am on a roll, indeed!! Three LOs in less than a week!
Outstanding!!
I hope I can keep up this pace!
~~~~~~
Another layout about fall 2010.
Again using the lovely Bella Blvd. line 'Finally Fall.'
Also using up some old alpha stickers.
And a salvaged-from-an-old-school-project foam heart.
I really love the colors in this line. They really remind me of fall.
So colorful and pretty and cute.
~~~~~~
I hope you're having a wonderful Tuesday.
Glad you stopped by.
WOO HOO !!
Wow wee! I actually got to scrapbook this week!
And I did TWO layouts!
Yipee!!
Both are from October 2010. Yes, I said 2010.
I am that far behind.
The first one is Josh's. He loves carving the pumpkin.
Especially gutting it, and playing with the innards.
I got a lot of photos of him.
(Despite how the picture looks, the background paper is actually gray.)
The second is Ben's (of course). He does NOT like gutting the pumpkin.
He is grossed out by the insides.
And as the journaling reads, he really wasn't too involved with the carving that year,
compared to other years.
I used some new (to me) paper from another one of my favorite companies,
Bella Blvd.
It's a line called "Finally Fall."
I've actually had this paper for quite sometime, but am just getting around to using it.
I go back and forth between Bella Blvd. and Echo Park
as to which one is my favorite.
I guess it comes down to the season or theme.
Really, I love them both.
I look forward to each release of a new line, from either company.
~~~~~~
Anywho....
Thanks for looking!

Happy 2012!

Yes, I am still here. I survived the holidays. And just as I predicted back in the beginning
of November, Josh's birthday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas came and went in a flash.
And now it's already the second week of January.
Whew! I don't know how much more of this I can take!!
The boys are already growing up so fast!
Please, Time, please, slow down! :)
~~~~~~
So, this post will be highlights of December.
Let's see....
As tradition goes, there's the breaking of the Thanksgiving turkey wishbone.
Ben won the "break" for the last two years....
But this year was Josh's year! He was so tickled!
In Scouting, Josh worked on a soap carving to earn his 'whittling chip.'
(A card that gives him 'official' permission to carry a pocket knife to Scouting events.)
(Pleeeaaase, be careful!)
On the 22nd, we finally were able to go to the Grove Park Inn to view the
gingerbread houses, Christmas trees, and other holiday decorations.
It was pouring rain that night, and cold, but it was warm and toasty inside.
(Not to mention, crowded!)
We had been wanting to go for several years, but something always kept us from
making it there. (Usually Steve's work, or someone being sick.)
The boys were so thrilled by all the sights, and Ben really got a kick out of the map of the place...he was constantly trying to find where we were on the map. :)
~~~~~~
Another 'tradition' for us is to have Gramma come over and share a dinner on Christmas Eve. She usually brings presents for the boys. They were very excited by this very BIG box!
What could it be? Hhhmmm....
Guitars! One for each boy! And just their size, too!
And she even gave them extra strings for them.
Thanks, Gramma!
(I think....)
And Christmas morning. Oh boy, Santa had been here!

"This is Legos. I know it. I can hear them."
"It's an origami kit!"
(Do I really need to give this one a caption?!)
Josh also really wanted a bath robe....
"It's a Mega T-Rex!!!"
Ben had said that if he got a Mega T-Rex for Christmas, then Santa must be real!
He got a bath robe, too.
There was a couple of cool lap desks (trays) with compartments and a cupholder.
The boys love to use them for eating in the living room.
They also got a couple of Wii games each, some clothes, and a couple of movies,
as well as the stocking-stuffer toys and candy.
And they also bought (with their own money) and exchanged gifts for each other....
Ben got a toy Ninja set, and Josh got an 'Excalibur' sword.
(Both make noise. Oh goody. :P)
We had a good, fun December, and Christmas.
I hope y'all did, too. :)
Hoping that 2012 will be even better!
As always, thanks for stopping by, and looking!
:D
