Having Fun...

Yeah, I have been having fun here lately...trying to catch up on scrapping December's photos, and creating a few cards....After spending a small fortune on Valentine's Day cards, I remembered that I have "stuff" to MAKE my own cards. So, I made two "girly" birthday cards, for Steve to choose from for his niece...absent-minded me forgot to take a picture of the chosen one before it was sent off...and two for his mother, again, so he'd have a choice. I used my card templates to cut the cards and make the envelopes. I used my Slice to cut "celebrate" and "make a wish," as well as the flowers. And I also played around with my stamps, including the inside sentiment. It took me a few minutes (or more) to get going, but once I did, I had a mess covering the desk, and it sure was a lot of fun!

And here's the LOs I've been working on for the past couple of weeks. This first one I just completed yesterday, but it's dated back in November!

The next two are nearly identical...again. I am finding it easier to work two at the same time, and using the same supplies takes the guess work out of it.



This next one was partly copied (left page), almost exactly, from an ad for MeAndMyBigIdeas, on the back cover of scrapbooks, etc. magazine. When I saw it, I knew that I had to "lift" it. I fell in love with it. The right page I tried to mimic the look and still fit all the photos.

Here, I wanted Josh's page to be just as cute as Ben's. I felt like Ben's was special 'cause it had Santa and his reindeer on in. But I didn't have any more chipboard pieces to do a duplicate page, so I had to do something different. I had the speciality paper that looks like a wrapped gift, tag and all. For the right side, I cut the paper to mat the photos, and then used the top strip on the side. I used my Slice to create a tag to mimic the one on the left side.

Well, that's it for now. I'm almost out of photos to scrap, so when I finish those, I'll be printing more to scrap, and then to share....well, you get the idea...And I may be working on some more cards, too. Yay, fun! Have a great weekend!

What Snow? and Valentines

So they got this one wrong...YAY! We were suppose to have (light) snow Sunday night and most of the day yesterday, with a possible accumulation of 1-2" (?)--enough for the county school officials to get "scared" and call off school. Well, we had a 20 minute burst of heavy, wet snow, that was just starting to stick when it stopped just as quickly as it started. Then the sun came out, and we had more melting than we'd had in two weeks! The kids could've gone to school....

And with the boys home, it's kinda hard to sit down and blog. Before the Wii, the boys played games on PBS and NickJr. So, I guess when they see me sitting at the computer, they think I'm "playing." (I guess in fact I am.) So I am a day late (and a dollar short! hehe!) getting our Valentine's Day photos posted. We had a great Valentine's Day, despite the fact that Steve had to work all weekend. (Trying to remain thankful for the OT.) I made a heart-shaped, red velvet cake, with cream cheese icing for the family. YUMMY! And Daddy treated us to burgers and fries from Burger King. Mmmm.

Well, he gave me the scrap pack, the scissors, and the Slice design card, which when he bought it, they gave him a coupon for 20% off your total purchase, including sale items, that he also gave to me, which I bought the ribbon, stamps, refill blades, and some red cardstock with. (hehehe I love my husband!) It was almost like Christmas! (Bless his heart, with the OT he worked back in December, plus the fact that he's a severe procrastinator, I didn't actually receive any Christmas gifts...so he ususally makes up for it on Valentine's Day. That's OK with me...I tell him that my Christmas gift is having fun giving gifts to the boys, and him...that's all I need.) But scrapbooking supplies is always a

wonderful gift! :D
The boys also got toys, which I forgot to take pictures of...Ben got a new Transformer from me, and a HotWheels monster truck from Daddy. Josh got a (small) StarWars lego kit from Daddy (he loves it!) and a StarWars action figure from me. Like I said, it was almost like Christmas, all over again!

(P.S. I add this as an after-thought...as I read over my blog, I realized that I did, in fact, get something for Christmas...can't believe that I actually forgot...my new washer and dryer!!DUUUHHHH!!! ;P I am such a lucky girl!)

Happy Birthday!

There are two birthday wishes I'd like to send out today. First, to my brother, Jeremy, down in Texas. He is 34 today. And the other is to a friend here in NC, Claudette. I'm not sure how old she is, but you're not suppose to ask a woman her age anyway! ;D Happy Birthday! Hope you guys have a wonderful day! Love ya's.

The morning after...

So, okay, at least it was only a little snow...2-3", in our area. Most of the heavier stuff fell in South Carolina...one of those crazy snows. With the blue sky peeking through the clouds, and the sun trying to shine, it was a beautiful morning. But it is still cold...I don't even know exactly what the temperature is, but I'm not sure I want or need to know...it's just cold.

Do you see that mound of snow behind the car? That's from shoveling the last 10-12" that fell a couple of weeks ago. It's looks smaller than it actually is...it's about 3' at the tallest point of the mound, and about 4-5' across. It's just not been warm enough to melt it all away. Piles of it, yucky, dirty piles still along the roads and highways that just won't melt. Yes, it is beautiful when it falls, and it can be fun to play in...I just wish it would "go away" faster! :D

MORE(?) in the forecast??!!!

Argh! Make room, Papa and Nana, we're coming to Florida!

Here we go again!

I cannot believe that it is snowing, again! Haven't we had enough already?! I for one definitely have seen enough for one year! I guess we're making up for past years, or possible paying the consequences for past mild winters. Whatever....just please, make it stop!! We can't even get what's still on the ground to melt....I guess we should be thankful we don't live up North somewhere....it could be worse!

So, I guess it's about time I put up the latest LOs, especially since it's been too cold to do

anything else. The first two are from our trip to Pigeon Forge, TN back in

December. The boys wore themselves out....

These next two are from the snow storm in December, the one that came the day after we
got home from Pigeon Forge (whew!)....

Yes, they are the same LO design, but it was so much faster, and easier, since I had the same number of photos, and they were the same orientation. I spend (waste) so much time trying to

"re-invent the wheel," when the story is the same for both boys, trying to make them "similar, but different." I just decided to make them identical this time, changing only the color, and the embellies. It worked...in my opinion...

STAY WARM!!

New sleds...

Finally, we got some real sleds (toboggans) for the boys, and they were fun!!

They were slick, and the sleet on top of the snow made them even slicker.

If one of the boys 'accidentally' let go of their sled, it would automatically head down the bank,

and right into the creek (which isn't easy {for Mom} to get to, especially in the snow!),

as if it had a mind of its own. And they would just stand there and watch it go,

looking at it as if to say, "Hey, where do you think you are going?!"

I laughed so hard I cried, and I had stitches in my sides. (Who needs AFV when

you've got your own two little boys trying to play in the snow?! ;D)

Ben, hitting the bottom of the hill, gets some snow in his face....

That's a happy face--for now, anyway--until he gets snow in his face one too many times....

Daddy having a turn....(and yes, Mom had a few turns too, but I was the one with the camera, so there are no pictures of me rolling around in the snow...{hehe})....

Even our dog, Lucy had a turn. Afterward, she ran and leaped around...I think she liked it....
It was a lot of fun, until we were all too wet (and cold) to enjoy it anymore. (Except for Daddy, who had on the insulated coveralls. ;D)

And while we've all been cooped up inside, Ben and I worked on his Valentines for his class. His teacher was pretty smart sending the list of names home before the snow, so we could get started on them. Josh and I made up a temporary list that will give us a head start, but I think he might've forgot a few names, so I made a couple extras. I used my Slice to cut out the hearts in two different sizes, and stamped the SweetHearts messege on the small one, and the 'To' and 'From' on the larger one so Ben would have plenty of room to write the names on them. We then taped them to lollipops, the large one on one side, the small one on the other. I got the idea from one of the blogs that I follow...Seeking a Balance. Ben had a fun time putting them together, and I think they turned out pretty cute. :)
